Hi,

i have a problem with running java applet from IE (or Mozilla).
Java store many jar_cache.tmp files with size of 0 kb in my local temp directory when I run applet and working on them.

When I close my applet and browser, this files stay in temp directory. Problem is that after a few months of using applet, temp directory have a few hundred thousand jar_cache.tmp files.

In Java control panel I use option 'Keep temporary internet files' but in directory ...\Application Data\Sun\Java\jdk1.6.0_17\cache

I currently use java 1.6.0_17.

Can somebody please help me?
How I can prevent that java do this?

Regards, Dominik

Man, you posted this to every Java forum you can find. I really don't think that these are an issue but you can use the Windows disk cleanup utility to get rid of them. Windows programs keep lots of files in the temporary area that often are not cleaned up. When you run the cleanup utility one of the things it does is clean out the temp directory.

OK, many files are stored in temp, that's true. I know that cleaner will erase them.

I just asking is somebody have similar problem? I think that isn't OK that every time when I start applet, in temp directory are saved 30 jar_cache.tmp files.

I have to agree that this seems like a problem. I found some very old bugs where Sun discusses the problem and said it was fixed long ago. Are you confident that your Java is up to date? A few files here and there I wouldn't worry about but if you've got thousands then perhaps this is still a bug in the JVM.

I know for this old bug, but now I'm not sure that is really resolved.
I'm try with various versions of java, 1.6.0_017, 1.6.0_07, etc and a problem is still there...
